Your probably thinking, what a random blog! However, this debate has been going on for years with scientists, personal trainers, the gym users and other parties.
Well from looking at the numerous websites, from Science to gym websites, I have found that the majority of them say it is good but to an extent. The reason for this being that when you listen to music you distract your body from the paces your putting yourself through at the gym. Meaning that you can push yourself further than you could if you werent listening to music, now to me that is a good thing, but the majority of scientists would disagree!
Confusing eh?!
Well let's go into a bit more detail on the two sides of the debate. For the scientists that study this the majority of them say it is to much of a distraction from your workout and your body is pushed to far and can cause damage to yourself. On the other hand the personal trainers will say push yourself as hard as possible, if your muscles don't hurt then you haven't worked out hard enough!
I can understand in some sense if you have them to loud to drown out the noise of other gym users or equipment then this could damage your eardrums, but for me it is just about the beat and the rhythm to keep me going!
So the MTN verdict is, wear them but keep the volume down and use inner earphones and not studio headset as this can increase sweating around the area it is being worn! I mean come on you don't want wet headphones do you!! YUK!
I haven't gone into too much detail regarding this as I didn't want to bore you all!
