MTN RATING 8/10
Years & Years won the BBC Sound Of 2015 in January. Past winners include Sam Smith (the only artist to sell a million records in both the UK and US last year) and Adele (whose album ‘21’ is highest selling album of the decade so far). Their debut album went straight to number 1 the first week it was out!
In my opinion a fantastic album, it got me up and dancing from the first track "Foundation" and I listened to the rest of the album that same day. There is usually always a track on a album that I am not to sure on, but with this album.... not one track made me think that, every single track is brilliant! Olly's voice just suits the electronic/dance sound perfectly and is complimented by the skills of his band members Mikey Goldsworthy & Emre Türkmen.
The sound that Years & Years bring is something different to the charts nowadays. Yes maybe it is similar to Sam Smith and other dance artists, but there always has to be stiff competition to keep the listeners interested. The album has been heavily critiqued by some of the big names such as NME and the Independent, but here at MTN we have faith in these guys and we will respect them for as long as they produce good music!
Thanks Years & Years for making such an amazing album, I am looking forward to listening to the whole album again and I'm sure myself and other fans of your music will be listening to it for years and years to come!
