Well I don't know about all of you but I used to be (and still am) a huge Pop Punk fan back in the 00's! Some of the greatest albums that have ever been made were by some of the noughties generation pop punkers! Here is the MTN list of the coolest of them all and where are they know?!

-Blink 182-

Of course these guys have to be on the list! Lets be honest if they weren't it wouldn't really be a pop punk list without them! In my opinion the best pop punk band to walk the face of the earth quote me if im wrong! They brought out four albums in the noughties and "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" was/is defintely my favourite out of every album.

What are they doing now you may ask?

Tom Delonge - Tom is now concentrating on Angels & Airwaves (AVA) for the forseeable future and infact, working on 2 albums with them as we speak. He is also bringing out 2 solo albums, one coming very soon with what he quoted to fans, "I have the fastest punk song I've written in 15 years on my new album... I hope it makes you destroy stuff." Sounds logical, why not smash stuff when listening to a bit of Tom Delonge! I'm looking forward to all the new albums coming up and we will be doing reviews on as many as we can!

Travis Barker - Travis is mainly doing producing now, he has recently finished producing a new record for San Diego "Cholo Goth" duo Prayers called Young Gods. He is still smashing away at the drums for a few artists inlcuding American hip-hop artist Yelawolf. In 2011 he brought an original album out called "Give The Drummer Some", there is no news on a new album as of now, but lets keep our fingers crossed for the future.

Mark Hoppus - Mark is enjoying family life with his wife and his 13 year old kid Jack, as well as being focused on his clothing line Hello My Name Is Mark (HMNIM), which was established in 2012. As for his music career, i think he is taking a break from it all now to concentrate on the things that I have mentioned.

-Bowling For Soup-

Another band that got me through the terrible teens! They have had some great tunes that I'm sure you all know and love. "High School Never Ends", "Girl All The Bad Guys Want", "The Bitch Song" and many more.

I saw them live for my birthday one year and oh my it was just absolutley hilarious! Bloodhound Gang and Army of Freshmen supported and they were all very good live bands. Brilliant gig, would defintely see them again if I had the chance!

You will never believe it but this year is their 21st Birthday and they are still going as strong as ever!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BFS!

As for the music now they are bringing out a few greatest hits albums, the first one which has recently been released is called "Songs People Actually Liked Volume 1 The First 10 Years" which you can buy from here http://www.bowlingforsoup.com/songspeopleactuallyliked/

The album has some great songs on it, its definetly worth a download.

So to put it lightly, I wont thankfully have to name each one individually and tell you what they are all doing now, as they are still together!

-SUM 41-

A band that took the pop punk world by storm with their first album in the noughties, "All Killer No Filler". Tunes like "Fat Lip", "Motivation" and "In Too Deep" boomed onto stereos for years to come!

In May 2004, the band traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo with "War Child Canada", to document the civil war in the country. A few days after they arrived, fighting broke out in Bukavu, which was near to the hotel they were staying at. They tried to wait it out, for the fighting to stop, however this wasn't the case. There was a U.N Peacekeepr with them called Charles "Chuck" Pelletier, who called for armoured trucks to take the hotel's guests out of the war zone. The reason I told you this story was because they named their album "Chuck" after the U.N. Peacekeeper Charles "Chuck Pelletier" for saving their life.

Just thought I would give a little fact!

I won't have to go into details on the three remaining band members either as on July 10th they made a statement on their website "Words can’t describe how good it feels to be back, so I’ll just let the music do that instead." Another album available to pre order! I think I will be getting myself a copy of that! How exciting!

-Greenday-

Well, where do we start with these guys! They have been around since 1990 with their first album 39/Smooth which the majority of people wouldn't have heard of. From 1990 to the beginning of the noughties they brought out four more albums, Kerplunk, Dookie (my personal favourite), Insomniac & Nimrod. By the noughties Greenday were already a huge success and continued to be all the way until...well now! 25 years old this year, now that is some feat!

They continued their success with American Idiot in 2004 and 21st Century Breakdown in 2009, two more brilliant albums!

I saw them play live at Milton Keynes in 2005 and this was by far the best gig I have ever been to! Supporting acts were Hard-Fi, Taking Back Sunday & Jimmy Eat World, three more brilliant live bands! They brought out a live album called Bullet In A Bible for this gig, of course I brought it straight away and listened to it non stop for at least 6 months!

What are they doing as I write this blog? Well according to an interview with the Rolling Stone they are in the process of writing a new album! That is some very exciting news! Greenday continue to suprise me with how good they still are after all these years! Their last album "Demolicious" which came out last year was a masterpiece, just like every other album they have ever produced!

Thank you Greenday for being so damn awesome!

-Good Charlotte-

Good Charlotte most probably my joint favourite pop punk band of the noughties along with Blink 182.

Lets start with a little fact you may not have known, the name Good Charlotte is named after a children's book that Joel read when he was a kid! Interesting hey?!

The best live band I have ever seen, I saw them three times in the 00's and every time they seemed to get better and better!

Out of all five of the bands featured on this blog these guys are the young ones of the group, having their first studio album release in 2000. However, they hit the world of music with an almighty bang! Their first album was a self titled album, of which it had some very catchy melodic and fast paced tracks!

The next album was brought out in 2002 called "The Young and the Hopeless". This album had some of my favourite songs of the noughties, which were "The Anthem", "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and "Hold on". Now that I am writing about these songs, I am going to listen to them later!!

Two more albums followed, one in 2004 called "The Chronicles of Life and Death" and another in 2007 called "Good Morning Revival". In my opinion for these two albums they went very commercial and went away from their original style a bit, however they were still very good albums.

Good Charlotte are currently on hiatus and over the years there have been a few lineup changes. When they punch their way back onto the pop punk scene, which will hopefully be soon, there may be a few new faces!

Benji and Joel have brought out a new album called "Greetings from California" under the name "The Madden Brothers". They have also helped co write a few tracks for other artists in the last few years including "5 Seconds of Summer" and "Andy Grammar".

I look forward to their return and hope it is soon because I am getting something I call "GCWS" (Good Charlotte Withdrawel Syndrome). Please guys come back soon!!
